Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education – Senior Academic Leader

About the role

The Pro‑Vice‑Chancellor for Education will join Lancaster University’s executive team to shape the strategic direction of education across the institution. Reporting to the Vice‑Chancellor and Deputy Vice‑Chancellor, this senior leader will drive quality, performance and innovation in teaching, learning and the overall student experience.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of the university’s education strategy, including curriculum design, digital and AI‑enabled learning.
• Oversee teaching and learning quality, student outcomes, the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) and postgraduate provision.
• Champion inclusive, research‑informed and future‑focused education across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
• Build strong partnerships within and beyond the university to enhance educational delivery.
• Guide and support high‑performing academic teams to achieve strategic change.

Required profile

• Professorial standing with a distinguished academic record.
• Significant senior leadership experience in higher education.
• Proven ability to deliver strategic educational change and manage complex institutions.
• Deep understanding of the UK higher education landscape and its challenges.
