Process Control Technician

About the role

As a Process Control Technician you will ensure the safe, reliable and efficient delivery of drinking water to customers across the South West. Working in the Central Process Control Team you will remotely monitor, manage and optimise water‑treatment works and the distribution network using SCADA and other advanced monitoring technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and control water‑treatment and distribution assets through SCADA and associated systems.
• Coordinate water production and network operations to maintain customer service, water quality and supply standards.
• Respond to operational alarms and incidents, escalating and working with field‑based teams as required.
• Analyse process and network performance data to identify optimisation opportunities and mitigate risks.
• Provide technical information and operational guidance during incident management.
• Prepare accurate operational reports, logs and hand‑over documentation.
• Collaborate with production, network, strategy, energy and asset performance teams to optimise system performance.
• Support abstraction planning and resource management to ensure raw‑water availability.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of control‑room processes, technologies and ways of working.
• Participate in shift rotas and provide additional operational cover when needed.

Required profile

• Experience monitoring and controlling water‑treatment or distribution assets.
• Familiarity with SCADA or similar control systems.
• Ability to analyse operational data and identify improvement opportunities.
• Strong communication skills for coordination with field teams and other departments.
• Willingness to work shift patterns and provide on‑call operational cover.
