Procurement Assistant

About the role

The Procurement Assistant will support the procurement and supply‑chain team in Newport, helping to ensure efficient purchasing processes and compliance with company policies. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will play a key part in sourcing, contract administration and supplier performance monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and issuing contracts in line with procurement guidelines.
• Support the sourcing and evaluation of suppliers to secure best value.
• Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation for compliance.
• Set up online tenders using the e‑sourcing platform and support category‑team sourcing activities.
• Coordinate with internal departments to understand procurement needs and priorities.
• Monitor supplier performance and address issues to maintain service quality.
• Proactively maintain the Approved Vendor List.
• Analyse cost‑saving opportunities and improve procurement efficiency.
• Ensure procurement practices adhere to sustainability and ethical standards.

Required profile

• Previous experience in procurement or supply chain.
• Good knowledge of procurement processes and supplier management.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for internal and external liaison.

Required skills

• Proficiency in procurement software.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Office applications.
