Procurement Manager – Category Management (Indirect Spend)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to lead strategic procurement for indirect spend categories within a fast‑growing commercial organisation. Based in Hertfordshire with hybrid working, you will shape category strategies, manage supplier relationships and deliver measurable commercial value.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement category strategies aligned to business objectives for indirect spend such as HR, travel, professional services and corporate services.
• Lead strategic sourcing, supplier selection and tender exercises, managing RFPs and evaluations using balanced scorecard methodologies.
• Build robust business cases, negotiate contracts and ensure delivery of value, risk mitigation and compliance.
• Maintain and improve supplier performance, focusing on cost, quality, sustainability and innovation.
• Analyse spend data, market trends and supplier performance to identify value‑creation opportunities.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Procurement Manager, Category Manager, Strategic Buyer or Senior Procurement Specialist.
• Strong background in managing indirect spend categories, preferably HR, travel, professional services or corporate services.
• Good understanding of IR35 requirements and supplier engagement considerations.
• Experience with ERP systems, ideally Oracle or similar platforms.
• Excellent commercial, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
