Procurement Manager – Fixed‑Term (Maternity Cover)

About the role

We are seeking a strategic Procurement Manager to lead our purchasing function on a 12‑month fixed‑term basis, covering maternity leave. Based at our manufacturing site near Middlesbrough, you will ensure the supply chain remains resilient, cost‑effective and fully integrated with production.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor the purchasing team, driving a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Identify, negotiate and manage supplier contracts to secure quality, cost efficiency and timely delivery.
• Maintain accurate system data on lead times, EOQ and stock levels, improving stock turns and reducing over‑stock.
• Own the Supply Chain Risk Register, escalating critical issues to safeguard business continuity.
• Keep the Purchasing Manual and work instructions aligned with ISO‑based Quality Management Systems.
• Report on departmental KPIs and develop tools to measure supplier performance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a senior purchasing or procurement role within manufacturing or engineering.
• CIPS Level 4 qualification (highly desirable).
• Strong understanding of supply chain management principles and ethical, sustainable sourcing.
• Excellent negotiation abilities and leadership skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP and procurement software.
• Solid knowledge of supply chain management practices.
