Procurement Manager – Strategic Procurement Lead

About the role

This newly created Procurement Manager position offers the chance to lead procurement excellence for a professional membership body. Working closely with senior stakeholders and budget holders, you will shape strategy, drive cost improvements and embed best‑practice governance across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery of procurement objectives aligned with the cost‑improvement programme and strategic goals.
• Review, develop and embed the Procurement Policy, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement.
• Manage end‑to‑end procurement activities, including re‑procurement of goods and services and RfP processes.
• Partner with budget holders to provide expert advice, challenge assumptions and deliver commercially sound solutions.
• Maintain a centralised contracts and procurement repository for better oversight and reporting.
• Conduct commercial reviews of supplier relationships to ensure value for money.
• Lead complex, high‑value procurements and engage external expertise when required.
• Design and deliver procurement training, frameworks and tools to build organisational capability.
• Promote sustainable and ethical procurement practices.

Required profile

• CIPS qualified or working towards qualification.
• Proven experience influencing senior stakeholders and delivering cost savings.
• Strong knowledge of procurement legislation, governance and best practice, preferably in regulated or public‑sector environments.
• Highly organised self‑starter able to manage competing priorities independently.
• Experience in non‑profit, membership or trade‑union environments is desirable.

What we offer

• Salary £54,000‑£60,000 per year.
• Fixed‑term contract until December 2027.
• Hybrid working – one day per week in Central London.
