Procurement Officer – Vehicle & Machinery Procurement

About the role

The national organisation is looking for a Procurement Officer to lead the acquisition of vehicles, machinery and equipment for a major environmental and engineering programme. The role is initially for 12 months with the possibility of extending for up to two additional years.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, plan and implement procurement activities in line with legislation and internal policy.
• Collaborate with project leads, end‑users and regional teams to ensure timely delivery of assets.
• Maintain strong supplier relationships and monitor market developments.
• Track expenditure, produce forecasting reports and support financial decision‑making.
• Interpret technical specifications and quotations to achieve value‑for‑money outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with governance procedures and financial responsibilities.
• Assist with end‑of‑life asset disposal and contribute to capital investment planning.

Required profile

• Technical experience in vehicle fleet or machinery procurement or supply.
• Proven ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships.
• Strong analytical skills for assessing procurement returns.
• High competence with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
• Familiarity with management accounting systems.
