Procurement Specialist – Education Sector

About the role

The client is seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to support procurement activities within a respected education environment in Inverness. The role involves managing a diverse portfolio of categories, including ICT, professional services, student services and curriculum resources, while ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best‑practice processes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end tendering across multiple categories and contract values.
• Support procurement and contract management in a regulated setting.
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
• Provide procurement guidance to various departments.
• Oversee systems management, reporting and compliance activities.
• Conduct spend analysis and produce analytical reports.
• Promote ethical, social and environmental procurement objectives.
• Assist with supplier management and contract negotiations.
• Ensure all procurement actions meet institutional and statutory requirements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in public sector procurement.
• Strong end‑to‑end tendering experience.
• Knowledge of public procurement regulations and legislation.
• Ability to manage tight deadlines and complex projects.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Commercial awareness and understanding of contract management principles.
• Experience producing analytical reports and spend analysis.
• Advanced spreadsheet and reporting capabilities.
• Understanding of ethical, social and environmental procurement practices.
• CIPS membership preferred or willingness to work towards MCIPS.
