About the role
As a Product Developer for womenswear, you will support the development and delivery of product ranges, collaborating with Design, Buying, Merchandising and Technical teams to bring the right product to life at the right quality, price and margin. You will own your categories, shape sourcing strategies, develop new products and ensure smooth progression from development to delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Manage sourcing and development of assigned categories, working with suppliers to create the right product with the right partner.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, reviewing performance and implementing corrective actions or exit plans as needed.
- Own product costing and margin, negotiating supplier costs and identifying opportunities to meet target margins without compromising design vision.
- Collaborate with Design and Fabric teams to develop new products, fabrics and trims, including sustainable options.
- Oversee product development from specifications through samples, seasonal buy meetings and order placement.
- Track critical paths, monitor key milestones and proactively escalate risks to ensure timely sign‑off and delivery.
- Work with Buying, Merchandising and Technical teams post‑sign‑off to ensure smooth progression to delivery.
- Support the Product team by sharing knowledge, guiding trainee developers and driving quality, margin, delivery and sustainability goals.
Required profile
- Previous experience in Product Development or a similar fashion role with a solid understanding of the development lifecycle.
- Commercially minded with strong costing, margin and supplier negotiation skills.
- Confident managing supplier relationships and building constructive partnerships across markets.
- Good knowledge of fabrics, trims, garment construction and cost implications of product decisions.
- Highly organised, proactive and able to manage critical paths, multiple priorities and deadlines while identifying risks early.
- Effective collaborative communicator working across Product, Design, Buying, Merchandising, Technical and Sustainability teams.
