Product Engineer – Manufacturing & Process Improvement

About the role

Yolk Recruitment is seeking an experienced Product Engineer to join a growing engineering team in Exeter. The role focuses on supporting complex manufacturing projects, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring high‑quality components meet customer specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain best practice across product engineering activities.
• Provide technical support to production teams to ensure components meet customer specifications and quality standards.
• Support the reduction of manufacturing scrap, rework, and production inefficiencies.
• Manage engineering projects and improvement initiatives through to successful completion.
• Apply knowledge of manufacturing processes, production planning, and control systems.
• Use CAD, 3D modelling, and engineering software to support product development and manufacturing requirements.
• Support tooling design, development, and optimisation activities.
• Manage individual part programmes and ensure engineering requirements are achieved.
• Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma/DMAIC methodologies to investigate issues and improve processes.
• Analyse production data and prepare technical reports, qualification reports, and improvement plans.
• Improve dimensional control processes and implement effective process controls.

Required profile

• Relevant engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of multi‑discipline engineering principles.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
