Production Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Production Design Engineer to join a well‑established engineering and manufacturing business that designs and manufactures bespoke electrical control systems for the agricultural sector. You will play a key role in designing custom control panels, supporting the sales process and collaborating closely with production to deliver high‑quality solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design bespoke electrical control panels and control systems to meet customer specifications.
• Produce wiring schematics, panel layouts and assembly drawings using SEE Electrical.
• Modify and maintain mechanical drawings using SolidWorks.
• Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and production routings in Microsoft Dynamics ERP.
• Work with the sales team to review enquiries and prepare technical quotations.
• Provide technical advice and product support to customers and internal colleagues.
• Test and inspect completed control panels before dispatch.
• Support new product development and continuous improvements.
• Maintain accurate engineering documentation, drawings and BOMs.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the business, sharing technical knowledge.
• Occasionally interact with customers by phone and, rarely, visit sites to resolve technical issues.

Required profile

• Qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Production Design Engineer, Electrical Design Engineer or similar role.
• Proven experience designing electrical control panels and bespoke control systems.
• Proficiency with SEE Electrical or comparable electrical CAD software.
• Experience using SolidWorks for mechanical drawings.
• Good understanding of electrical principles, motors and control systems.
• Experience creating Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Strong communication skills and confidence liaising with customers and colleagues.

What we offer

• Salary £35,000 – £42,000 depending on experience.
• Full‑time hours: Monday‑Thursday 08:00‑16:30, Friday 08:00‑15:30.
• Fully office‑based role in Salisbury.
• 20 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays.
