Production Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Production Engineer to join a leading medium‑to‑heavy engineering manufacturer in Rochdale. Reporting to the Production Engineering Manager, you will support and improve manufacturing processes, ensuring efficiency, cost‑effectiveness and high quality.

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain manufacturing process specifications.
• Develop and manage routings, bills of materials (BOMs), production orders and costings.
• Provide technical expertise to resolve production issues.
• Optimise processes to increase efficiency, capability and yield.
• Use CAD software, particularly SolidWorks, for engineering support.
• Collaborate with Purchasing, Engineering, Production and other stakeholders.
• Support continuous‑improvement, lean manufacturing and waste‑reduction initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Production or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Background in medium‑to‑heavy engineering environments.
• Strong understanding of CNC machining, including 4‑axis, 5‑axis and CNC lathes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent; HNC/HND in Mechanical or Production Engineering preferred.
