Production Engineer – Optical Ground Station

About the role

We are looking for a Production Engineer to join Archangel Lightworks’ engineering team and help deliver our TERRA‑M optical ground station technology. The role involves supporting serial production, assembly, integration and testing of laser communications systems for satellite‑ground data transfer.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble, integrate and test subsystems and support system‑level integration of optical ground stations across electrical, mechanical or optical domains.
• Manufacture and assemble mechanical parts, operate 3D printers, and inspect/accept outsourced components while maintaining inventory.
• Champion build quality, document processes and work with engineers to optimise manufacturing workflows, reduce waste and maximise output.
• Manage ordering, oversee outsourced components and support supply‑chain activities.
• Provide field maintenance, deployment and installation of systems, including international travel as required.
• Inspect incoming parts to ensure quality standards and customer requirements are met.
• Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.
• Handle Engineering Change Requests and Orders where applicable.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of commercial production/manufacturing experience.
• Hands‑on experience assembling, integrating and testing systems in at least one of the mechanical, electrical or optical domains.
• Proactive, detail‑oriented and able to work independently in a lab environment.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and willingness to travel abroad.

Required skills

• SolidWorks or RapidHarness CAD tools.
• ERP/MRP systems.
• Basic PCB layout.
• Knowledge of satellite communications (SATCOM) and ground‑segment infrastructure.
• Experience with 3D printing and handling of field‑deployed environmental systems.
