Production Planner – 12‑month FTC (Food Manufacturing)

About the role

We are seeking a Production Planner to join a leading food manufacturing business on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract covering a maternity period. You will work within a collaborative, close‑knit team and have the opportunity to influence production planning processes directly.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain production schedules using demand forecasts, actual demand and inventory data.
• Manage raw material, packaging and finished‑goods inventory to avoid stockouts and overstocks.
• Collaborate with Sales, Production, NPD, Engineering and Warehouse to support accurate demand forecasting.
• Support capacity planning and resource allocation to keep production running efficiently.
• Monitor production progress, flag OTIF risks and implement corrective actions.
• Liaise with suppliers to anticipate and mitigate supply interruptions.
• Provide Customer Service support and cover absences as needed.
• Participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Assist the design and rollout of a new ERP/WMS system as part of a cross‑functional team.

Required profile

• Solid experience as a Production Planner, preferably in FMCG or chilled food.
• Strong analytical mindset with problem‑solving abilities.
• Confidence building relationships across the supply chain.
• Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and a process‑driven approach.
• Flexibility and resilience to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
