Production Test Engineer

About the role

The Production Test Engineer will support testing and diagnostics of electronic sub‑systems and circuit cards during the production phase. Working within a small engineering team, you will ensure that programme targets for time, cost and quality are met. The role is based at the client’s major site in Bolton and is inside IR35.

Key responsibilities

• Provide test engineering support to shop‑floor operators, including the introduction of new test equipment.
• Test and diagnose complex electronic systems, sub‑assemblies and circuit cards down to the component level.
• Generate test specifications, operator instructions and technical reports based on higher‑level requirements.
• Identify remedial and corrective actions promptly to keep manufacturing on schedule after test failures.
• Support meetings with Quality and Operations teams, delivering status updates on test engineering actions and investigations.

Required profile

• Minimum HNC/HND level engineering qualification or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of digital and analogue electronic measurement and fault‑diagnosis techniques.
• Ability to plan and organise work according to assigned priorities.
• Good verbal and written communication skills for producing specifications and reports.
