Professional Indemnity Solicitor (5+ PQE) – Manchester

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a nationally recognised law firm with a strong insurance and professional indemnity practice. You will work within a specialist team handling complex, high‑value claims for insurer clients, primarily on the defendant side.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload of professional indemnity matters with minimal supervision.
• Defend claims against construction professionals, solicitors and other service providers.
• Advise insurers and insured parties on liability, coverage and reserves.
• Assist partners on large‑scale, technically complex litigation.
• Draft reports, pleadings, correspondence and court documentation.
• Liaise with clients, counsel, experts, witnesses and other stakeholders.
• Support business development and client relationship initiatives.
• Supervise and mentor junior lawyers, trainees and paralegals.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with a minimum of 5 years’ post‑qualification experience.
• Strong professional indemnity background, preferably with construction or solicitor negligence claims.
• Experience in insurance litigation and policy coverage matters.
• Good understanding of professional risk claims, reserving and claims management.
• Commercial awareness of the insurance market, including insurers, brokers and underwriters.
• Excellent analytical, drafting and problem‑solving abilities.
• Proactive, commercial and solutions‑focused approach to litigation.
