Programme Manager – Oxford EARTH (Maternity Cover)

About the role
The University of Oxford is seeking an experienced Programme Manager to cover a maternity leave for the Oxford EARTH Programme. You will oversee the day‑to‑day operational delivery of this interdisciplinary research initiative focused on sustainable natural resources and the net‑zero energy transition.
Key responsibilities
- Lead operational management of the programme, including project planning, financial oversight, reporting, risk and governance.
- Coordinate activities across multiple research work packages and nine university departments.
- Foster collaboration with internal researchers and external partners, organising meetings, workshops and events.
- Manage relationships with funders, stakeholders and the programme’s administrative team.
- Support recruitment, induction and the development of future funding proposals.
Required profile
- Master’s degree or higher (or equivalent experience) in Earth or environmental science or a related discipline.
- Substantial programme‑management experience in a complex research or higher‑education environment.
- Excellent organisational, financial and stakeholder‑management abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and a proactive, adaptable approach.

- Project management (qualification preferred)
