Project Accountant – Renewable Energy (Chester)

About the role

We are seeking a qualified accountant to join a fast‑growing international offshore wind and renewable energy business. The role will sit in Chester and will involve building the project finance and reporting function from the ground up, working closely with the Group Financial Controller and project teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain project‑level reporting, including budget vs actuals and forecast‑to‑completion.
• Produce monthly project P&L statements with commercial commentary.
• Calculate work‑in‑progress and manage project‑level revenue recognition.
• Monitor project costs, margins, variances and commercial risks.
• Control purchase orders and track subcontractor costs.
• Analyse project close‑outs and feed learnings into future projects.
• Partner with project managers across the UK and internationally, challenging cost and scope changes.
• Support bids, tenders, pricing and project cost models.

Required profile

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified accountant.
• Experience in project‑based environments, preferably renewable energy, offshore wind, construction or engineering.
• Proactive, commercially minded and comfortable shaping new processes.
• Strong business partnering ability and confidence to challenge non‑financial stakeholders.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel and financial modelling.
• Project accounting, including WIP calculations and revenue recognition.
• Budgeting and forecasting at project level.
• Multi‑currency accounting and international exposure.
