Project Buyer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Project Buyer to support the procurement of materials for engineering build activities across the UK. You will work from our Head Office in St. Neots, collaborating with engineering, sales and supplier teams to ensure timely and cost‑effective sourcing.

Key responsibilities

• Request quotations, analyse offers and make sourcing recommendations using comparison of quotation (COQ) and decision matrices.
• Check drawings and specifications with suppliers, update prices in SAP (PR1), and resolve blocked invoices (PM7).
• Maintain accurate source lists, process purchase orders and document purchasing decisions according to company guidelines.
• Conduct annual price negotiations, renegotiate offers for additional savings, and manage supplier contracts including incoterms and payment terms.
• Identify new local suppliers, perform supplier assessments with quality and logistics teams, and carry out supplier audits.
• Analyse monthly price variations and support the implementation of local purchasing strategies.

Required profile

• Demonstrable experience as a buyer in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of procurement processes, supplier management and price negotiation.
• Ability to work with technical drawings, specifications and cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• SAP (PR1, PM7) for price updates and invoice processing.
• Quotation analysis and decision‑matrix evaluation.
• Price negotiation and supplier contract management.
