Project Controller – Financial Control (Hybrid)

About the role

The Project Controller will support the financial and operational control of projects throughout their lifecycle, working closely with Project Managers, Finance teams, Engineers and Sub‑contractors. This hybrid role, based in Chessington, offers a competitive salary of £35k‑£40k after a probationary period.

Key responsibilities

• Create, maintain and update project cost forecasts, tracking actual versus forecast expenditure against approved budgets.
• Maintain turnover and revenue forecasts, providing accurate financial data for business planning.
• Assist with preparation, management and monitoring of customer invoices and follow up on overdue payments.
• Support financial reporting, delivering regular updates on project performance, profitability and cost variances.
• Track projects valued above £20,000 and flag those not meeting profit expectations.
• Review Lessons Learned logs, manage variation procedures and ensure all variations are recorded, approved and processed on time.
• Maintain project correspondence logs, documentation and filing systems to ensure effective record‑keeping.
• Prepare project reports, management information, board papers and governance reports for senior management.
• Manage the monthly engineer timesheet process, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
• Attend internal and subcontractor meetings to gather information for monitoring and reporting.

Required profile

• Proven experience in project financial control or similar finance roles.
• Strong analytical abilities with a focus on accurate forecasting and variance analysis.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple financial streams.
• Proactive approach to identifying and escalating payment issues.
• Effective collaboration skills to work with project managers, engineers, finance teams and external partners.
