Project Engineer – Packaging Machinery

About the role

We are seeking a Project Engineer to join a well‑established British manufacturer of bespoke packaging machinery and turnkey lines serving the food, chemical and pharmaceutical markets. The role is based in our Bedford factory and offers the chance to work on diverse projects from order receipt through to installation, with a supportive handover from the retiring incumbent.

Key responsibilities

• Take full ownership of projects, managing them from order stage through to on‑site installation.
• Coordinate closely with clients and internal sales, design, manufacturing and service teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
• Work within the Project Management team, following established processes and standards.
• Receive training and a thorough handover from the outgoing incumbent to ensure continuity.

Required profile

• Proven track record as a Project Engineer in a manufacturing, industrial or engineering environment that supplies capital equipment or technical solutions.
• Experience in packaging machinery or the food, chemical and pharmaceutical sectors is advantageous but not essential.
• Qualified engineer with relevant project management or engineering qualifications.
• Strong communicator comfortable liaising with clients and cross‑functional teams.

What we offer

• Basic salary up to £48,000 per year.
• Overtime opportunities and a company annual bonus, with total earnings potential of £50,000+.
