Project Manager - Defence Infrastructure

About the role

Babcock is looking for a Project Manager for its Devonport site, leading complex construction and infrastructure projects in one of the UK's most important defence environments. The role coordinates project delivery from planning through to execution, working with highly skilled professionals and a wide range of stakeholders. It is a full-time, onsite position of 35 hours per week, with set hours 7:30am to 3:30pm Monday to Thursday and 7:30am to 12:30pm on Friday.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate pre-construction and construction teams to deliver project objectives safely and effectively
• Promote a strong safety, security and environmental culture across project activities
• Manage project schedules, performance reporting, budgets and construction delivery
• Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to manage risks, dependencies and opportunities
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, security, environmental and project governance requirements

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering complex projects in construction, engineering, infrastructure, defence or similarly regulated environments
• Experience leading and motivating multidisciplinary teams
• Health and safety training such as IOSH or NEBOSH
• Able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance; eligibility may depend on place of birth, nationality and citizenship

Required skills

• Recognised Level 6 qualification in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
• APM certification or equivalent; working towards Registered Project Professional status is advantageous
• NEC4 contract experience is beneficial
