Project Manager – Emergency Services Network (ESN)

About the role

BT/EE is leading the delivery of the Emergency Services Network (ESN) that will replace the current Airwave service across Great Britain. As a Project Manager you will coordinate multiple functional projects, ensuring they integrate into a single, operational service that emergency responders can rely on.

Key responsibilities

• Integrate and align several ESN delivery workstreams into a cohesive, service‑ready capability.
• Develop and govern integrated delivery plans covering scope, resources, dependencies, risks, finances and critical‑path activities.
• Provide accurate governance, financial and delivery reporting to support decision‑making and assurance.
• Build and maintain senior‑level relationships across BT, EE, Authority stakeholders, suppliers and user community representatives.
• Manage project expenditure within approved CAPEX and OPEX budgets, monitoring forecasts and variances.
• Ensure service readiness through testing, assurance activities and on‑call support.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering medium to large‑scale projects in a telecom environment, preferably with high‑priority mobile services.
• Demonstrated ability to work within a gated project‑governance framework.
• Strong communication skills to engage stakeholders up to Director level and drive consensus.
• Excellent planning and scheduling capability to meet critical deadlines.
