Project Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Project Manager to lead client‑side delivery of complex projects within Mott MacDonald’s Advisory and Programme Delivery unit. Based in Cambridge (with potential work in Peterborough), the role focuses on delivering projects on time, within budget and to quality standards while embedding sustainability and health & safety principles.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver projects on schedule, within cost and to defined quality standards.
• Embed sustainability principles throughout project delivery.
• Manage health, safety and wellbeing of all project participants.
• Ensure compliance with internal and client governance tolerances.
• Apply the appropriate safety management system.
• Coordinate and manage contract requirements (NEC or Icheme) for design, construction and commissioning.
• Collaborate with the Technical Lead to achieve health and safety excellence in design.
• Identify cost efficiencies during pre‑construction without compromising scope.
• Present projects to the Investment Committee and secure capital allocation.
• Account for overall project expenditure and cost performance.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering client‑side projects on time, within budget and to quality standards.
• Understanding of sustainability principles and their application in project delivery.
• Strong focus on health, safety and wellbeing management.
• Experience with NEC or Icheme contract frameworks.
• Ability to communicate project status to senior stakeholders and investment committees.
• Responsibility for financial stewardship and cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
