Project Manager – Rail Transformation

About the role
DFT Operator (DFTO) is creating a publicly owned rail group that will become Great British Railways. The Project Manager will lead the safe delivery of projects across transformation, HR, finance, digital, continuous improvement, railway operations and procurement, ensuring they meet cost, time and quality objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, structure and sequence project tasks to deliver outputs on time, within budget and to quality standards.
- Provide a professional project management service, including monitoring, reporting and adherence to DFTO standards.
- Facilitate programme meetings, prepare detailed packs and reports for leadership and monthly team sessions.
- Identify, assess and mitigate risks through effective stakeholder engagement.
- Collaborate with business analysts and subject‑matter experts to gather detailed requirements and support analysis.
Required profile
- Proven ability to lead projects that achieve cost, time and quality targets.
- Strong stakeholder management and risk mitigation experience.
- Capacity to work across organisational boundaries and deliver strategic objectives.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
