Project Manager – Utilities & Water (HS2)

About the role

Hays Civil Engineering is partnering with a leading UK infrastructure contractor to find an experienced Project Manager with a strong water‑sector background. You will own a significant package of utility and water infrastructure works, ensuring safe, on‑time and on‑budget delivery for the HS2 programme.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the safe delivery of water infrastructure works.
• Manage programme performance, resources and project milestones.
• Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships.
• Coordinate designers, subcontractors, suppliers and delivery teams.
• Manage project risks, opportunities and change‑control processes.
• Support commercial performance, forecasts and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with quality, environmental and health & safety standards.
• Drive continuous improvement and promote best practice across project teams.

Required profile

• Proven track record delivering major water infrastructure projects for principal contractors, utilities or civil‑engineering organisations.
• Extensive project‑management experience within the UK water sector.
• Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and commercial management.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary delivery teams.
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams and competing priorities.
