Property Inspector – District Valuer Services

About the role

The Valuation Office is seeking Property Inspectors to support the Department for Education Net Capacity Assessment programme across England. You will inspect and measure primary schools, capture accurate data on room sizes and space usage, and help inform national education planning.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular on‑site inspections and measurements of primary schools as allocated by the Team Manager.
• Organise inspections in three‑month blocks, managing your own calendar while balancing leave and personal commitments.
• Record precise measurement data using bespoke IT software and Microsoft 365 tools on an iPad.
• Prepare inspection reports and schedule future appointments.
• Travel to schools within roughly an hour of your office or home, with occasional longer journeys.

Required profile

• Highly organised and detail‑oriented with the ability to work independently.
• Physically capable of spending long periods on site and carrying necessary equipment.
• Flexible and able to adapt to a national programme with varying travel requirements.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.
