Property Inspector (Housing Association)

About the role

The Property Inspector will join Peter Bedford Housing Association to oversee responsive repairs and void property works across Hackney, Islington and Newham. Reporting to the Head of Property & Development, you will help ensure homes are maintained to high standards while supporting the association’s social mission.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee responsive repairs and void property projects, aiming for swift completion and minimal void periods.
• Monitor contractor performance, conduct post‑inspections and verify compliance with specifications and health & safety standards.
• Liaise with tenants, contractors and internal teams to maintain clear communication and high customer satisfaction.
• Manage Stage 1 complaints, investigate issues and ensure fair, timely resolution.
• Maintain accurate data in property management and stock condition systems.
• Contribute to weekly planning meetings, prepare progress reports and support efficient project delivery.
• Lead or support property‑related projects such as stock condition surveys and tenant engagement panels.
• Control expenditure, authorise works within delegated limits and verify invoices before payment.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a property repairs or maintenance environment.
• Proven ability to assess and manage repair projects from start to finish.
• Strong organisational skills and the capacity to work to tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with tenants, contractors and colleagues.

Required skills

• Knowledge of health and safety legislation and contractor compliance.
