Property Underwriter – Commercial Risks

About the role

The Property Underwriter will be responsible for underwriting and pricing commercial property risks across the UK, ensuring decisions align with underwriting guidelines, appetite and delegated authority. You will work closely with brokers, internal teams and compliance to drive profitable growth while maintaining high service standards.

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite and price regional UK commercial property risks in line with guidelines and FCA regulations.
• Respond to broker enquiries via online platforms, email and direct submissions.
• Build and maintain strong broker relationships to support new business, renewals and mid‑term adjustments.
• Collaborate with operations, compliance and sales teams to manage the policy lifecycle.
• Use data and reporting tools to monitor performance, identify trends and support continuous improvement.
• Contribute to product development based on market feedback and risk appetite.
• Maintain market awareness and support sales campaigns to acquire profitable business.

Required profile

• Experience underwriting commercial property risks, preferably within the UK market.
• Strong understanding of FCA regulations and underwriting authority limits.
• Proven ability to build and sustain broker relationships.
• Analytical mindset with the capacity to assess hazards, claims impact and risk factors.
• Excellent communication and collaborative skills.
