Proposals Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a technically‑savvy Proposals Engineer to turn complex engineering solutions into winning bids. You will manage the full bid lifecycle for food‑processing and industrial engineering projects across the UK and Ireland, working closely with Sales, Engineering, Project Management and Procurement.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates for engineering and food‑processing projects.
• Produce professional technical and commercial proposals within customer deadlines.
• Review specifications, drawings and project requirements to capture all costs and scope.
• Support customer meetings, technical discussions and site surveys as required.
• Collaborate with Sales to develop opportunities from enquiry through to order.
• Liaise with Engineering, Procurement and Project Management to obtain technical and commercial data.
• Assist with proposal presentations and customer negotiations.
• Ensure smooth handover of awarded projects to the delivery team.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of proposal templates, estimating tools and bid processes.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in a Proposals Engineer, Applications Engineer, Technical Sales Engineer or similar role.
• Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Food Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong commercial awareness combined with solid engineering knowledge.
• Proven ability to produce accurate engineering cost estimates and commercial quotations.
