Psychology Graduate Behaviour Mentor

About the role
This full‑time position offers a Psychology graduate the chance to gain hands‑on experience supporting young people with behavioural, social, emotional and mental health needs in a supportive school environment. You will work directly with pupils who have SEMH, ASD, ADHD or other additional support needs, helping them develop positive behaviours and achieve academic success.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group mentoring for pupils requiring behavioural and emotional support.
- Support students in developing self‑regulation, resilience and coping strategies.
- Build trusting relationships that encourage engagement and personal growth.
- Assist teachers in implementing behaviour support plans and intervention strategies.
- Promote a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Support pupils during lessons, transitions, breaktimes and other key points throughout the school day.
- Monitor student progress and contribute to behaviour and wellbeing reports.
- Collaborate with teachers, pastoral staff, SENCOs, parents and external professionals.
Required profile
- Degree in Psychology or a related discipline.
- Genuine interest in behaviour, mental health and child development.
- Previous experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals (advantageous).
- Understanding of SEMH, ASD, ADHD or behaviour support strategies (desirable).
- Calm, patient and resilient approach to challenging situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proactive, reliable and adaptable attitude.
- Passion for making a positive impact on young people’s lives.
