About the role
This position is for a recent psychology graduate to work as a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) in a thriving two‑form entry primary school in Chelmsford. You will support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and mental‑health issues while gaining hands‑on experience alongside qualified child psychologists, speech and language therapists, and pastoral staff.
Key responsibilities
- Provide day‑to‑day support to SEN and mental‑health pupils in classroom and playground settings.
- Assist teachers in adapting lessons and resources to meet individual needs.
- Collaborate with child psychologists, therapists and pastoral teams to implement support plans.
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress while respecting confidentiality.
- Participate in CPD courses and training sessions offered by the school.
Required profile
- Warm, welcoming personality with a genuine interest in supporting children.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Discretion and respect for confidentiality.
- Knowledge or experience of supporting pupils with SEN.
- Degree in Psychology or a related discipline.
Required skills
- Understanding of SEN and mental‑health issues in primary‑age children.
