Psychology Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant

About the role

This full‑time position offers a Psychology graduate the chance to work in a welcoming primary school in Flitwick, supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, speech and language needs, and other additional learning requirements. You will gain hands‑on experience that is highly valued by employers and postgraduate programmes in educational and clinical psychology.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group interventions for pupils with ASD and speech‑language difficulties.
• Assist teachers in preparing engaging lessons and learning resources.
• Foster an inclusive, safe, and nurturing classroom environment.
• Support pupils' emotional, social and academic development.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with children, staff and families.
• Encourage independence, confidence and resilience in learners.

Required profile

• A degree in Psychology or a related discipline.
• Experience working with children or in an SEN setting (preferred but not essential).
• Knowledge of ASD and speech‑language support (desirable).
• Patient, empathetic and resilient attitude.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Positive attitude, reliability and willingness to learn.
