About the role
We are looking for recent Psychology or Child Psychology graduates to join primary schools in Manchester as SEND & SEMH Teaching Assistants from September 2026. This full‑time, contractor‑based position offers the chance to apply your knowledge of child development, behaviour and emotional wellbeing directly in a classroom setting, supporting pupils with a range of additional learning needs.
Key responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.
- Help children develop emotional regulation strategies and resilience.
- Support classroom learning through targeted interventions and behaviour management.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and encourage independence.
- Collaborate with teachers and SENCOs to monitor and report on pupil progress.
Required profile
- Degree in Psychology, Child Psychology or a related discipline.
- Genuine interest in working with children and inclusive education.
- Patient, empathetic and resilient attitude.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships.
- Willingness to learn and develop within a school environment.
