Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant (Reading)

About the role

We are looking for a recent Psychology graduate to join our Reading school as a Teaching Assistant. The role offers hands‑on classroom experience, supporting students and teachers during the academic term.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils during lessons, both one‑to‑one and in small groups.
• Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom management.
• Help students grasp concepts and complete set work.
• Provide additional support to pupils with special educational needs or learning difficulties.
• Encourage engagement, confidence and positive behaviour.
• Prepare learning materials and support differentiated activities.
• Monitor student progress and give feedback to teaching staff.

Required profile

• A degree in Psychology or a closely related subject.
• Genuine interest in education and supporting young people.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain concepts clearly.
• Patience, empathy and a positive attitude.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a classroom team.
• Previous experience with children or young people is desirable but not essential.
