Public Affairs Officer

About the role

The Public Affairs Officer will help shape and deliver the charity’s global influencing strategy, focusing on public affairs and events that protect donkeys and other working animals. Working within a high‑performing team, you will collaborate across departments to create thought‑leadership content and strengthen partnerships.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver public‑affairs and advocacy materials such as blogs, policy briefs and reports.
• Coordinate with the campaigns team on cross‑cutting projects and protocols.
• Support the Public Affairs Manager in expanding the Sanctuary’s network of contacts and partnerships.
• Analyse policies and activities of inter‑governmental agencies and identify alignment opportunities.
• Prepare briefs, speaking notes, submissions to consultations and other strategic documents.
• Represent the charity at national and international conferences and events.

Required profile

• Proven experience in public affairs, advocacy or campaigns, preferably within a charitable or non‑profit context.
• Strong stakeholder‑management and coordination skills.
• Ability to produce high‑quality written material for policy and public audiences.
• Experience working on projects that address animal welfare or related environmental issues.
