Public Health Manager

About the role

Northumberland County Council is seeking an experienced Public Health Manager to lead the Building Blocks team within its Public Health portfolio. The role focuses on planning, housing and transport elements to improve health outcomes and reduce inequalities across the county.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a small multidisciplinary team delivering the building blocks portfolio, ensuring alignment with health improvement objectives.
• Collaborate with colleagues in housing, planning, economic development, strategic transport and other council functions to develop healthy neighbourhoods.
• Provide supervision, training and wellbeing support to staff, and oversee workload and performance management.

Required profile

• Degree in Public Health, Health Promotion or a related field.
• Demonstrated knowledge of health inequalities and social determinants of health in Northumberland.
• Proven experience in multi‑agency partnership working and leading public health initiatives.
• Experience supervising staff, including training, development and performance management.
