Public Law Solicitor

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Public Law Solicitor to join our award‑winning Public Law team in Birmingham. The successful candidate will work on high‑profile judicial review and civil liberties matters for both publicly funded and private clients, delivering expert advice and representation across a range of government bodies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage public law cases, including judicial reviews, emergency orders and interim relief applications.
• Conduct thorough legal research and draft pleadings, opinions and submissions for County, High, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court proceedings.
• Advise clients on civil liberties, human rights and regulatory issues involving the Home Office, HMRC, local authorities and the NHS.
• Collaborate with senior partners, external counsel and funding partners to develop case strategy and manage funding.
• Maintain accurate case files and ensure compliance with Legal Aid Agency and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with a practising certificate in England and Wales.
• Demonstrated experience in public law, judicial review and civil liberties matters.
• Strong analytical and advocacy skills with a track record of successful outcomes.
• Commitment to high professional standards and client service.
