Public Law Solicitor (NQ-2 PQE) – Birmingham

About the role

This position offers a newly qualified solicitor the chance to join a nationally recognised Public Law & Regulation team in Birmingham. You will work on high‑profile, complex public law matters while receiving dedicated mentorship and training.

Key responsibilities

• Assist on judicial review and statutory appeal proceedings.
• Conduct research and drafting in constitutional, administrative and human rights law.
• Support regulatory compliance and enforcement projects for public sector clients.
• Prepare legislative drafts and provide advice on statutory interpretation.
• Liaise with central government departments, regulators and arm‑length bodies.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with up to 2 years PQE.
• Strong academic record and analytical ability.
• Genuine interest in public law and regulation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to London and client sites.

Required skills

• Legal research and case analysis.

• Understanding of constitutional, administrative and human rights law.
