Publisher – Health Science Journals

About the role

The Publisher will own the maintenance and development of a portfolio of Health Science journals, working across all business models and ownership types. You will drive growth, monitor performance, and align the journal program with Wiley’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop subject‑area strategies to increase submissions and published output.
• Identify and implement opportunities to optimise the editorial model for growth.
• Continuously evaluate journal performance against Wiley and departmental goals.
• Monitor external competitive landscape and translate market trends into publishing opportunities.
• Build and maintain a network of scientific editors and board members, gathering insights and feedback.
• Present performance data and strategic plans to editors and senior leadership.
• Manage editor performance, succession planning, and contractual relationships.
• Interview candidates and make recommendations for editor appointments.
• Improve internal processes and report activities to the Associate Director and Senior Director.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of health‑science publishing trends and business drivers.
• Analytical and creative problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills for conveying complex information to stakeholders.
• Experience building and leveraging relationships with scientific editors and board members.
• Proven ability to develop business cases and secure resources for publishing initiatives.
