Purchase Ledger Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a Purchase Ledger Assistant to join a small, friendly finance team in Quedgeley, Gloucester. Working closely with the Assistant Accountant, you will take ownership of the purchase ledger function and support broader finance activities within a property management business.

Key responsibilities

• Process and code vendor invoices, including data entry.
• Liaise with clients and managers to resolve invoice queries.
• Link and manage supporting documentation such as invoices and statements.
• Produce pre‑payment reports for approval.
• Generate remittance advices and bank EFT files once payments are approved.
• Reconcile vendor statements, primarily utilities.
• Support the Accounts Assistant with ad‑hoc reports and finance tasks as required.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a purchase ledger or accounts payable role.
• Experience using computerised accounting systems.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately in a small team.
• Experience with property‑based accounting systems is not essential; training will be provided.
