Purchase Ledger Clerk – Finance Team

About the role

Join a growing small‑to‑medium enterprise as a Purchase Ledger Clerk, supporting the finance team during a period of backlog. You will work closely with the Finance Manager to ensure smooth daily financial operations.

Key responsibilities

• Process purchase invoices accurately and efficiently
• Match, batch and code invoices
• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
• Manage supplier queries and maintain strong relationships
• Prepare and run weekly/monthly payment runs
• Assist with bank reconciliations and investigate variances
• Produce reports on outstanding liabilities, aged creditors and cash flow
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with internal controls
• Support the finance team with ad‑hoc tasks and process improvements

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year experience in a purchase ledger or finance administration role
• Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
• Good understanding of accounting principles and finance processes
• Experience with payment runs and supplier management
• Exposure to bank reconciliations and reporting is desirable
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach

Required skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Experience with finance systems or accounting software
