Purchasing and Planning Manager

About the role

This is a brand‑new, senior position overseeing both purchasing and production planning for a leading manufacturer in St. Helens. You will lead a team of buyers and planners, ensuring seamless procurement and scheduling that align with business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee procurement of raw materials, components and services.
• Manage supplier performance, quality, delivery and cost.
• Negotiate pricing, lead times and contracts to achieve savings.
• Lead daily production planning and maintain the weekly Master Production Schedule (MPS).
• Adjust plans in response to demand changes, material shortages or operational issues.

Required profile

• 5‑10+ years of purchasing and supply‑chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proven responsibility for managing Master Production Schedules and daily production plans.
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to mentor and develop team members.
