Purchasing & Business Operations Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing & Business Operations Manager to join a family‑run sock manufacturing business in Bacup. You will work closely with the owner and senior leadership team, taking ownership of procurement, finance support, and day‑to‑day operational tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all purchasing and procurement activities, negotiate pricing and commercial agreements.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, monitor performance and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Support administration and operations, including Sage accounts, payroll records, and import/export paperwork.
• Prepare month‑end reports, management dashboards and Excel analyses.
• Assist with year‑end accounting, working with external accountants.
• Research and implement practical AI solutions to improve business processes.

Required profile

• Significant purchasing or procurement experience within manufacturing or engineering.
• Proven negotiation skills and ability to manage supplier contracts.
• Comfort with financial administration, month‑end reporting and payroll.
• Ability to work autonomously in a small‑business environment.
