Purchasing Officer – Fixed Term (12 months)

About the role

The Purchasing Officer will support FCDO Services' Procurement team in delivering value‑for‑money supply chains for global projects. You will balance cost and quality, ensure compliance with procurement policies, and contribute to sustainable and ethical sourcing.

Key responsibilities

• Review requisitions for accuracy and compliance before senior‑manager approval.
• Operate within delegated authority limits and work with the Purchasing Manager to improve customer satisfaction.
• Provide professional advice on escalated procurement matters and support internal and external audits.
• Deliver scheduled reports, manage business processes and act as Information Asset Manager to ensure data integrity and risk mitigation.
• Identify efficiencies and opportunities for collaborative buying activities.

Required profile

• Strong communication and customer‑service skills.
• Experience working with managers at all levels across an organisation.
• Ability to meet strict deadlines and performance targets without direct supervision.
• Line‑management or equivalent experience.
• Proven ability to produce clear reports and briefings for internal stakeholders.

Required skills

• ERP systems (experience with enterprise resource planning platforms).
• Reporting and analysis skills for procurement performance.
