Purchasing & Operations Manager – Electronics Manufacturing

About the role

Highly successful SME in electronics manufacturing is seeking a Purchasing & Operations Manager to lead purchasing, supply chain, production and quality functions from its newly refurbished premises in Slough. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will adopt a forward‑thinking, data‑driven approach to ensure the business meets customer demand through strategic purchasing and efficient production processes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the purchasing function strategically, handling suppliers and outsourced manufacturing contracts.
• Oversee production using lean manufacturing techniques and drive KPI‑focused process improvements.
• Control the supply chain and inventory to maintain a consistent flow of components and an efficient manufacturing process.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives across the Operations team to boost efficiency, flexibility and quality.
• Act as the ERP super‑user for the newly implemented system, establishing clear processes and measurable KPIs.
• Set team objectives and manage personal development plans for a team of over 20 employees.
• Oversee product testing, fault finding and customer returns.
• Implement performance KPIs across production, purchasing and supply‑chain functions.
• Prepare business cases for efficiency‑improvement projects.
• Implement and manage the corporate Health & Safety policy.

Required profile

• Degree‑educated, preferably in an Engineering discipline.
• Proven track record in the electronics manufacturing sector.
• Senior‑level operations experience with direct responsibility for purchasing and supply‑chain functions.
• Experience using a modern ERP system for sourcing and production of electronic components.
