Python Engineer – Desk Aligned for Prop Trading Firm

About the role

We are seeking a Python Engineer to join a tech‑driven proprietary trading firm’s Global Delta One team in London. The role involves designing, building and maintaining automated trading systems that generate revenue across multiple asset classes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and enhance the firm’s automated trading platform.
• Improve existing codebases and create new tools to support trading operations.
• Collaborate directly with traders and quantitative researchers to translate business needs into technical specifications.
• Manage the technology backlog from ideation through to deployment.
• Work closely with software engineers, support engineers and other stakeholders across the business.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of professional software development experience with a strong focus on Python.
• Experience developing trading‑related software or working in a complex technology‑focused organization.
• Ability to analyse business requests, produce clear technical specifications and guide projects to completion.
• Proven capability to teach and mentor colleagues.
• Experience optimizing distributed, data‑intensive systems.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Willingness to work onsite in the London office five days a week.
