Python Research Engineer – High‑Frequency Prop Trading

About the role

We are a high‑frequency proprietary trading firm expanding our London research team. As a Python Research Engineer you will work closely with traders and quantitative researchers to design and build unified, scalable systems that accelerate strategy development and execution.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and develop Python‑based platforms that streamline research workflows.
• Collaborate with traders to translate ideas into production‑ready code.
• Implement efficient, scalable solutions using C++ and Bash where appropriate.
• Maintain and optimise distributed computing environments for scientific computing and machine‑learning workloads.
• Troubleshoot performance issues at the hardware and operating‑system level.

Required profile

• Strong software development experience in Python.
• Proficiency in C++ and Bash scripting.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms and object‑oriented programming.
• Experience with distributed systems, scientific computing and ML algorithms.
• Deep knowledge of computer hardware and operating‑system internals.
• Minimum bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field from a top‑tier university.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
