QHSE Manager

About the role

The QHSE Manager will lead the development and maintenance of health, safety, quality and environmental standards for a rapidly expanding specialist engineering business operating in the utilities sector.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and maintain the company’s Health & Safety Management System, ensuring compliance with HSE legislation and industry standards.
• Develop, review and update risk assessments, method statements, COSHH assessments and safe systems of work.
• Conduct site inspections, audits, investigations of incidents and implement corrective actions.
• Deliver toolbox talks, inductions and safety briefings, and support CDM compliance and contractor management.
• Maintain and improve ISO management systems (including ISO 9001), coordinate internal and external audits, and manage CAPA processes.
• Support tender submissions, supplier questionnaires and customer audits, and oversee document control.
• Promote environmentally responsible practices, monitor waste management, and support sustainability and carbon‑reduction initiatives.
• Develop training and competency matrices, coordinate training programmes and maintain competency records such as CSCS and ECS.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a QHSE, HSE or SHEQ management role.
• Proven experience managing ISO 9001 (or other ISO) management systems.
• Strong knowledge of HSE legislation, COSHH, CDM regulations and environmental compliance.
• Ability to work confidently across office, workshop and site environments.
