Qualified Accountant for Leading Law Firm

About the role

We are seeking a qualified or part‑qualified accountant to join the accounts team of a leading law firm in Luton. The role is full‑time, Monday to Friday, 9 am‑5.30 pm, and involves managing the firm’s financial records and cash flow.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the firm’s financial records and oversee client, office and VAT banking arrangements.
• Process all cash movements, including electronic payments (BACS, CHAPS, Faster Payments), cheques and daily transactions.
• Conduct daily client ledger reviews, zero‑balancing and bank reconciliations for all accounts.
• Prepare quarterly cash‑flow forecasts and financial analysis for senior management.
• Coordinate payroll information and liaise with external payroll accountants.
• Assist external accountants with VAT returns and ensure accurate posting of accounting transactions.
• Support month‑end and year‑end processes, providing schedules for auditors.
• Monitor aged client balances and take action to optimise cash management.

Required profile

• Qualified, part‑qualified or qualified by experience accountant.
• Strong bookkeeping and accounting knowledge.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency with the LEAP case‑management system.
• Good organisational abilities and familiarity with SRA Standards and Regulations (desired, not essential).
